About C.Y.M.
Chris Baio rose to prominence as bassist for Vampire Weekend, bringing melodic sensibility and pop-rock credentials to the project.
Michael Greene records as Fort Romeau and has a background in electronic/house production and DJing; his skill set complements Baio’s pop-oriented approach.
C.Y.M. is born of the two artists’ shared taste—krautrock, soul, indie, electronic—and an interest in blending genres. The project’s name reportedly references “Catania / Y / Milazzo” (Italian influences) in their earlier release. Nasty Little Man+1
Their debut EP came out in 2019, after which they went silent until 2025’s “Justify / Catania” double single. Their music sits between indie pop and electronic, with high production values, bold grooves, and global sonic references. Stereogum+1
For “Justify,” Baio and Greene wrote, produced and recorded together; mixing by David Wrench adds a polished finish. The result is both accessible and experimental. Nasty Little Man
The press release describes the journey beginning in January 2020, spanning locations like Los Angeles, London, Glasgow, Paris & Lagos—even before formal release. Nasty Little Man C.Y.M. positions itself as an evolving project with ambition, rather than a one-off side-step.
